If you are a coder, then sublime text might be your favorite program, whereas a graphic designer will spend most of his time using Photoshop.

useful windows software

But no matter what you do for living, here are a few essential Windows software that everyone can use.Today’s we'll find out some less known yet must have applications for Windows. So let's get started

1. Flux - warms up your computer display at night.

Now Flux is a must have app, for everyone who works late nights in front of a computer screen. Research says, the blue light coming out of your computer screen suppress melatonin and thus affect your sleep cycle. But this small utility automatically adjust the brightness and color of your monitor based on the time of the day.
So in short flux ensure you have better sleep or doing any color sensitive work, make sure to disable it.

2. PhotoRec - recover accidentally deleted files.

It is powerful data recovery software that will help you to recover accidentally deleted files. Or even from corrupt hard drives. But unlike Recuva (which is another popular data recovery tool) PhotoRec do not have graphic user interface. Instead, it's a command line interface and come with steep learning curve. But trust me, when it comes to data recovery, it is more powerful and have more options than any other free data recovery software.

3. Eraser - completely remove sensitive data.

Now we know that, we can easily recover deleted files using data recovery software. Right? But lets say we have sensitive data that we want to destroy forever. In such cases you use Eraser. This small program overwrites your data several times so that no other data recovery software can retrieve it.

#4 WizMouse - scroll non active windows

Let say you are working with multiple windows, like editing a document and browsing web on chrome simultaneously, now if you want to scroll down on the browser, you will have to first click on the specific window and then use scroll bar on your mouse. Right? But with WizMouse you can simply hover your mouse and start scrolling without changing the focus on your main document. So in short it enables scrolling on non-active windows.

Now this may not look like a big deal to some of you, but trust me in a long it does increase your productivity. Fun fact: This is default feature in Mac and Linux, but strangely never adopted in Windows over so many years.

5. ClipX - clipboard history manager

We use copy paste options all the time. But when we copy a new text the previous one is removed from the clipboard. Right? So what clipX does is that it stores all your copied items whether it’s text, image or screenshot in the separate clipboard, so that you can easily copy for later use.

6. Spotify - free music streaming app

Now I am sure most of you already know about Spotify. It’s the audio streaming app that has millions of song organized according to mood, genre, playlist etc. So instead of streaming music from YouTube or local storage, you should use Spotify.

However if you are from India or any other country where it’s not available, you can still get it using VPN.

7. MyLockBox - hide folders on Windows

As the name suggest, MyLockBox is the simple application for hiding and password protecting your folders.

But unlike the default ‘hide folder’ options on windows MyLockBox also hides the content of the folder from appearing in the windows search and since it also does not use any encryption like TrueCrypt, it’s much quicker in hiding and showing files. So overall it is perfect folder hiding software for many average computer users. Though recently it has started coming with bloatware, so make sure you use custom installation option while running the setup.

8. PopCornTime - Stream movies from torrents

If you have to watch a TV show or a movie, you first download it from torrent and then watch it later. Right? But with popcorn time, you can directly stream the torrents while it's downloading in the background. So in short, you do not have to wait for downloading to finish.

Popcorn Time is free open source program available for all Windows, Mac and Linux. But yeah, popcorn time itself is not illegal but if you stream copyright movies then that's illegal.

9. AutoHotKey - automates keystrokes and mouse clicks

This app is like Tasker for Android i.e. it helps you to automate tedious task. For instance, we have to type our email address multiple times a day, or open our favorite folder or application several times a day. So instead of doing that manually, we can automate this with AutoHotKey.

Like, if I type predefine word for my email address then it will autocomplete it. Similarly, I can open favourite folder or application with press of a button. Now these are some very simple examples.

But since it’s build in scripting language, you can do quite powerful stuff with it. And automate your life for good.

10. ChromePass steal username and passwords

Now since you have come so far, you deserve a treat. So this next application is pure evil which lets you steal victim’s password in less than 5 seconds. So all you have to do is run this small executable on victim’s computer and it will show all the password the user has saved on his or her browser.

Ideally, you should use it to recovery your lost password or check the venerability of your system. But if you are going to have fun with your friends, go ahead, I am not going to judge you.
