A Few Useful And Interesting Websites To Know

Posted By: Fernando - June 27, 2016
Whenever we are looking for an online tool or service, we do a Google search, right?

But, some websites do not appear in the search results, though they are still better than those who do. Therefore, in today’s post we will see some of those less known, but useful websites that everyone should know.

Useful websites

So let's get started.

1. Ninete - app installer for Windows

While installing any windows application we have to spend a lot of time clicking on NEXT NEXT, and NEXT on the setup wizard and, if you are not careful enough, you will end up installing, ASK toolbar on your browser. And this is where Ninete comes in, simply head over to this website, check mark the list of applications you want to install then download the custom installer and run it on your system. Ninete will install all the applications in the background, without you having to click on NEXT, NEXT each time. And yeah, it’s doesn’t come with any bloatware as well.

2. SumoPaint - powerful online image editor

When it comes to online image editing, most web app can only crop, rotate or apply filter to your images, right? But SumoPaint is an exception. It’s a powerful online image editor that support advance image editing options like layers, drop shadow and blend mode etc.

Here you can either upload an image from your computer and then edit it or you can create images from scratch, like you do in Photoshop. Now, obviously it’s not as powerful as Photoshop, but if you don’t have access to Photoshop then SumoPaint is the best alternative.

3. Soundation - online music editor

When it comes to mixing or editing music, Audacity is the best but if I have to do that online then Soundation is what I am going to use. You can import music from your computer or use the free soundtracks from the library and make your own music.

And once you are done you can export the music as a .wav file. Overall if you want quickly edit two music files but don’t have time to install any program then Soundation is what you need.

4. Studio STupeflix online video editor

Final Cut Pro for MAC or Premier Pro for Windows are the best video editors that most professionals use. But let’s say you want to mix some videos and audio files then there is no need to download a then big video editor and can easily be done online with Studio STupeflix.

To get started, you can either choose from pre-built themes or start from scratch then add your images, video and sound clips. And that’s it, your video will be ready in no time.

5. Calm - focus your mind

Studies has shown, people who meditated daily for 8 week, develop more grey matter in prefrontal cortex which reduce stress and helps you to focus more on your work.
Now, I personally tested it and can confirm it work.

I have been meditating daily for 8 months now and it has brought lots of positive changes in my life. So if you too want to start with meditation then check out this website. Calm has guided meditations ranging from 2 to 20 minutes that will help you reduce stress and boost your productivity.
They also have a mobile app that will help you form a daily routine. However for smartphones, I would recommend Headspace instead.

6. Grammarly - check Grammar and spelling

People often judge you on your language. Whether it’s a comment on Facebook or you are writing a blog post. There is no room for bad grammar or spelling mistakes. Unlike the browser spell check, Grammarly also looks for grammatical error and punctuation mistakes. And when found, it also points you in right direction.

However it’s not always possible to use this website for proof reading, right? Therefore you can install its chrome extension and it will automatically check for errors on the page you are working.
You get advance options in the paid version. However I am using the free version for a long time and it worked fine for me.

7. Scamadviser

Every now and then we come across a websites that seems too good to be true. So if you want to find out, if the websites is real or fake use Scamadviser.

Here you can find useful details about websites like how old it is, what is, its Alexa ranking, how you can contact the owner, who is hosting this website, etc.
And also, if people have talk about that website on social media, then it also fetches those posts and show them as a comment below.

So overall it’s nice tool, if you want to gather information about any website.

8. 1happybirthday.com

One thing that every one of us do is, to wish your friends happy birthday.
So instead of just typing the same old Happy birthday text on their Facebook news feed, why not sing them a birthday song. And guess what, 1happybirthday does exactly that and it does that really well. So you have to search for a name, and if it’s there you will get audio that plays a birthday song including your name. You can even download the song and send it over Whatsapp or paste a link on their newsfeed.

Now there are two reasons, I am recommending this websites. First, they have tons of names in their list. Not just popular English names but it also covers Indians and Spanish names in great depth. And second, they claim, all the songs are sung in natural voice and not be using text-to-voice search engine. They even claim they sang every song manually.

I don’t know how true it is. But whatever it is, they are doing a great job.

9. r.sine.com

It’s fairly an unpopular websites that I found on Reddit. So what it does is, every time you reload the page, it shows you an interesting picture or a gif. And that’s it, nothing else.
Every once in a while, I head over to this websites and spend hours simply refreshing the page.
So yeah, if you ever got bored on the internet but not in the mood to do anything heavy, checkout this website.

10. music.163.com

When you want to listen to some music, you either go to YouTube or Pandora. Now both of them have good music collection but YouTube suck up a lot of bandwidth and Pandora has ads. Not to mention that Pandora is not available outside US as well, right?

And this is where music.163 comes in. This is a Chinese audio streaming service with huge collections of English and Hindi songs. The great thing about it is, you get related song and lyrics on the same page making it a perfect music streaming service.

Well, this all for now. These were some of the websites that I constantly use and found them useful. For links, please check my blog posts regularly. I will add more websites in the list as I discover them.

And like I said, most of these websites do not come in search results. So, I highly recommend you bookmark the post.
