So recently, Whatsapp (the popular messaging services) crossed 1 billion milestone, which means, every 1 out 7 people in this world is using WhatsApp, and that’s a huge number. Now like I always say, if you are using something frequently, then make sure you use it effectively, and with that in mind here are 5 Android apps for WhatsApp power users.
So let’s get started
1. Disa
Now, these days, many people use WhatsApp for professional use. So in, does make sense to have two different WhatsApp accounts like one for work and other for friends and family.
But according to WhatsApp terms and conditions, you can’t run two Whatsapp accounts on the same device and this is where the apps like DISA come in.
Simply put, this app let’s your run two separate WhatsApp accounts in one device and you don’t even need a Dual SIM phone for that.
Now, I know there are a few other apps that can do that, but DISA is different, since this app is available on Google play everything is legit and works real smooth unlike its competitor.
2. Seebye Chat Heads
So Whatsapp released a new update today, in which you can reply to WhatsApp messages directly from notification, but still, it’s not very intuitive, let me show you what I mean:
First you have to pull down notification tray and then tap on it to reply, however, if you have a rooted android, then use an app like – Seebye Chat heads.
It’ll make your WhatsApp work like Facebook messenger i.e. you can access Whatsapp conversation from any app, see your chat history and even reply to it from there without even opening the WhatsApp app. This last part is a big deal since WhatsApp do not release their API for public, and the best part is, if you are using this app to reply, your last seen time will also not be updated since you are not opening the app. And finally, once you are done, simply drag and drop the app to a small hole to exit it - just like we do in Facebook messenger.
3. Contact Photo
Import WhatsApp DP and set it as your contacts profile picture. What screen will you prefer when you are making a phone call? Obviously the one with the contact photo, right? Since it’s more personal. But setting DP for every contact can be a tedious task and this is where apps like Contact photo come in. So what it does is, it imports WhatsApp profile picture and set it as contact images for your contact lists. Let me show you how it works. Once you open the app, you’ll see some display pictures of your WhatsApp contacts, these are images that you have opened inside WhatsApp and now are saved in your devices storage. So go through them, and uncheck the one that you don’t want to set as contact photo. Now, if you want to add more images to the list then you’ll have to open the Whatsapp app and open DP of each contact one by one.
There is no way to that manually since Whatsapp don’t release their API for public. And now once you are done, come back to Contact Photo app, refresh it, and then swipe to the right and tap on ‘Update picture automatically’ and that’s it.
From here onwards it’ll automate the task which, many other similar apps don’t do, so at least that’s nice. Now, I know this process is tedious, but then again. Most of us only contact with like 20% of people in our contact list, right? So why bother about the rest 80%. And also, chances are you have already opened the DP of contacts you care about, so you don’t have too much manual work anyway.
4. Gif2Video
Now this may not be everyone cup of tea, but if you spend time on Reddit or 4chan, you’ll know how fun a gif image could be. But sadly, WhatsApp don’t support gif animations. If you try to send one, it’ll automatically convert it into a JPEG. But there is workaround, WhatsApp does support a video, right?
So if we can somehow convert out gif to video, then we can make it work, and guess what, Gif2video does exactly that. As you open the app, you can select gif images from various sources like from your local collection, Reddit or Gifbin, etc.
But say, you want to send a custom gif, then go make a gif section and search for it. Select one from the list and then tap on convert. If there is a problem, you can customize the settings. Although, that’s very unlikely, once the processing is over, tap on share, select Whatsapp and share it with your contacts. The size is quite reasonable and should not take no time. Since Whatsapp compress video quite well. Once you have it uploaded, tell the receipt to play it with Google photo app, it has a loop video option which will make a video like a gif file.
5. Magic Cleaner
Now, I’m not sure if this is an Indian thing or if this happens worldwide too. But, one big problem with Whatsapp is that the people in Whatsapp groups are constantly forwarding spam images. This includes images with motivational quotes on it or picture of god or internet memes or just a simple Google morning image. Now, I don’t have anything against them but the problem is over time, these images start taking your device memory and I really don’t like them in my gallery. So, what I do is Start deleting them.
But then again Bulk deleting Whatsapp images is also not an option, since it also contain some important picture as well and manually marking each image is plain waste of time.
And this is where Magic Cleaner for Whatsapp comes in to play.
This app uses special image recognition algorithm that filter the spam images from the useful ones and then give you one click delete options. All you have to do is open the app and run it.
It’ll automatically start analyzing your Whatsapp images. Now, you’ll need an active internet connection while using the app since the image processing is done on the server. But, I have to say the speed and accuracy of this app is mind blowing. This remind of pied piper of Silicon Valley. One thing, that’s missing in the app is the ability to bulk uncheck a specific number of categories. But, don’t worry, I have discussed this with the dev and this feature will be out soon.
Now, once you review your selection, you can delete these files with a single tap.
